Breakup Baroque by Goon Gun

Goon Gun finally finished their long-gestating second album «Breakup Baroque».

This is clearly a more mature, melodic and versatile record than the debut «Gone Dawn» (2009), complete with intricate arrangements and unorthodox stylistic choices.

Songs range from propulsive electroclash («Cops Who Fuck Nameless Girls») and bastardized yacht-funk («Agent Awkward») to sweeping, cinematic ballads («Alien Eve», «Regina M») and ambient epics («Sin Screen Showing Nothing», «Smashed by Icarus»).

As always with Goon Gun, power pop hooks and catchy synth riffs masquerade general anarchic attitude and darkly surreal lyrics.
