AGGRESSOR APPENDAGE by STCLVR

“Hello lovelies, Gorg here with some background info on the Aggressor Appendage album.

6 of these tracks were recorded in early 2020 and originally intended for an ambitious, double c60 split with my good friend and amazing ambient composer, G.C. Slagle. I had recently finished up the Coward album and was also working on what became Lovers while putting them together. This was meant to be a "return to form" release for both of us, with my side calling back to the more loop-based harsh power electronics and death industrial leanings of the early STCLVR work, while G.C.’s would be reminiscent of their room-clearing, anything goes, abrasive as fuck outlet 6ix6ix6ixties. For the usual reasons of life and other projects getting in the way, the release was inevitably placed on the back burner for years and just never got the care and attention a venture like this deserves.

The 6 tracks I mentioned pre-date the "harsh trilogy" of albums I released from 2021-2022 (YWIG, Keys, Disengagement) while the remaining two, Subliminal and Hunched Over, were completed sometime either during or shortly after those releases were turned in for mixing and mastering. I obviously couldn't turn off the flow of ideas for creating tracks in this vein once I started, so basically none of those albums would have come to fruition had the idea for the split not came about.

I am really excited to finally share these tracks and am eternally grateful to Rora for breathing new life into them with their mixing talents as well as providing a home for them now over half a decade later.

Fellow creators know equipment breaks down unexpectedly, files become lost, corrupted or accidentally deleted, and the fear of losing my hard work is constantly looming, so getting to share a good hour or so of unreleased material is a huge relief.

As for that split, it could very well still happen someday. But at this point, considering how long I’ve sat on these, I’d rather start fresh than revisit old work. Not to mention I’ve definitely recycled some of these lyrics, and 2 other tracks from these sessions have already found homes on other STCLVR releases.
