Olasonic from Neda by Christos Barbas, Victoria Taskou, Giorgos Papaioannou, Pavlos Spyropoulos

The piece was performed for the first time, with a voice and the steering wheel of my Peugeot as percussion, as I was driving on the seaside roads of southern Crete having Sophia by my side, sleeping of course!
I will never forget the moment of the recording, having all these amazing friends and musicians around, in the dark studio, with lit candles in the middle. The song is dedicated to my brother (the title is an anagram for his name), who, at the age of thirteen, was the first person to introduce me to Curcuna (a 10/8 dancing rhythm).

Η πρώτη εκτέλεση του κομματιού έγινε με φωνή και με κρουστό το… τιμόνι του Peugeot, οδηγώντας στους παραλιακούς δρόμους της νότιας Κρήτης, και με τη Σοφία δίπλα μου, φυσικά να κοιμάται!
Δεν ξεχνιέται η στιγμή της ηχογράφησης με αυτούς τους υπέροχους φίλους και μουσικούς, με το στούντιο σκοτεινό και τα αναμμένα κεράκια στη μέση... Αφιερωμένο στον αδερφό μου (ο τίτλος του κομματιού είναι αναγραμματισμός του ονόματος του), από τον οποίο στα δεκατρία του χρόνια άκουσα Curcuna για πρώτη φορά (χορευτικός ρυθμός στα 10/8.)

Giorgos Papaioannou, born 1982, is a musician based in Greece. Since 2012 he has taught modal music and improvisation at the Labyrinth Musical Workshop. He has collaborated with numerous artists incl. Ross Dally, Kostis Avissinos, Michiel van der Meulen, Hainides, Yannis Zannis and many others. Together with Nikos Papaioannou he wrote music for the award winning film, A Tale of the Three Sisters.
