Olive wood bridges

Sometimes, as I look at the body of my οud, I tend to imagine it as a wooden bridge…
The initial melody was created in 2003. Later on, it was used as the main musical theme of the homonymous documentary created by my friend Giorgos Salame. The documentary was a tour round the Mediterranean basin, in places where the olive tree thrives. Many years later, the piece takes its final form in this album.

Συχνά, κοιτάζοντας το σκάφος στο ούτι μου, το φαντάζομαι σα μια ξύλινη γέφυρα…
Η αρχική μελωδία φτιάχτηκε το 2003. Χρησιμοποιήθηκε, μετά, ως βασικό μουσικό θέμα στο ομώνυμο ντοκιμαντέρ του φίλου Γιώργου Σαλαμέ. Το ντοκιμαντέρ ήταν ένα οδοιπορικό στη λεκάνη της Μεσογείου, σε μέρη όπου ευδοκιμεί το δέντρο της ελιάς. Το κομμάτι, μετά από αρκετά χρόνια, πήρε την τελική του μορφή σ’ αυτό το δίσκο.
