Following the success of her 1972 EP, released on Valentine’s Day 2025, this expanded project delivers a complete 10-song experience, celebrating the rich legacy of 1970s funk, soul, and R&B with a fresh, contemporary twist.

With 1972, Gina Sedman pays tribute to the timeless grooves and vibrant energy of the decade that shaped her musical roots. The album includes all four tracks from the original EP—In One Day, Give Love, 1972, and It Was Amazing—plus six brand-new songs that dive deeper into themes of love, resilience, and the transformative power of music. Each song is a testament to Gina’s signature fusion of old-school funk and modern soul, creating a sonic journey that resonates across generations.

Adding to the excitement, 1972 features a special contribution from Gina’s husband, percussionist Andrew Sedman. His instrumental composition, Soul Purpose, stands out as a percussion-driven masterpiece, showcasing his dynamic artistry and adding an electrifying groove to the album. As a member of the UK jazz fusion band Cong-Fusion, Andrew also provides percussion across all tracks, bringing rhythmic depth and authenticity to the project.

Gina assembled an all-star team of musicians to bring 1972 to life. Michael J. Calhoun of the Kinsman Dazz Band lends his legendary guitar work on Give Love, while his bandmate Chris Cuda infuses the same track with bold, vibrant horn arrangements. Ryan McCaffrey (Cong-Fusion) enhances the album’s soundscape with piano, strings, and clavinet, contributing to Give Love, In One Day, and the title track 1972. On It Was Amazing, Felipe Avellaneda adds soulful layers with organ, strings, and keys, elevating the track’s emotional intensity.
