Chabakrou from Africa by Simo Lagnawi

Hypnotic trance tune “Chabakrou” is the music from Morocco in Ganwa tradition that sung by London’s leading Gnawa musician Simo Lagnawi. Lagnawi plays gimbri, three strings bass lute made of camel and goat’s skin used by Gnawa musicians. Gnawa is traditional and shamanism culture based in Sahara desert in Morocco and Algeria, although Gnawa people were originated from ancient Ghanan empire. Music was also brought from West to North Africa and this is the version of traditional Gnawa music and Ghanan master djembe player Afla Sackey’s collaboration that is also produced by Koichi Sakai.

Ghetto Lounge started as a DJ event in Café 1001, Brick Lane 2003. Ghetto Lounge is also a promoter of the quality musical culture movement of London, with live performances at "Afrobeat Vibration" bringing the spirit of Fela Kuti and "JAZZ ON THE ROAD" reproducing the style and essence of the ‘beat generation'.
