Kebab from Gere by Gere

Eating a kebab,
waiting for a taxi that comes over the street...
Looking for a trash bin
to throw litter away and keep my hands free a bit...
"Time to work! No lie!",
nobody seems annoyed by it, even to pay,
then I look at the time,
better be departing, or else I might delay...

Then the taxi arrives, I mount on into it,
I arrive at my place as I get off of it...
I tie my coat around my hips as I walk on,
then I smell something that I thought the world forgot...

Blessed days of hitchhiking,
open roads, plain landings,
straw hats like tumbleweeds
rolling through the crossroads...
Blessed days of open bars,
flavors dense of ethnics...
Kebab was my best friend...

I come back to kebab
after walking a while, I'm just starving to death,
and like fish and chips
I must accompany it with some fresh iced peach tea...
Once I'm full I'm outside,
and once again sidewalks with people everywhere,
in a city that
I never really felt mine after all this time...

Cars run between themselves, yet no one really moves...
I'm catching the first bus, but traffic's like a glue...
You're calling on my phone, too busy to respond...
Unsure whether to stop again or moving on...

Blessed days of pure freedom,
railroad tracks and wisdom,
old cassettes and records,
hot winds and soft dresses...
Blessed days of wandering
from one place to another...
Kebab's still my best friend...

In every troubled moment, I know kebab's always there,
consoling me with his taste, absorbing me in his scent...
Everywhere I go, kebab... Always be holy kebab...
He's almost the only friend I have...

Journeying again,
I finally came out of that swarming chaos,
going back to my roots
and not regretting anything I've left behind,
but something's missing,
although I'm equipped with all that I need with me...
Not outside, it's inside,
it's everything I cling to when it all falls...

I quickly realize the hunger growing in me,
and luck would that a kebab was in front of me...
Money paid, with a bite I'm coming back to peace...
I finally won my prize, I can still journeying...
