Gil Frey is the "leader" of the F-Art ensemble of Greensboro, the most venerable avant-garde institution in the City of Gates. They started in 1979 (as a duo with the peerless David Doyle) and, with a long hiatus, have continued to the present day. Gil is a native of the area (actually i think he is from a nearby town, not GSO proper) but has a national periscope and is in tune with avant gardes across the country. He is also the arranger on what I think is the best Eugene Chadbourne album, "Country Protest." Amazingly creative, extremely musical and committed to an absurdist humanism, Gil Frey has weathered the long, slow slide into fascism in the USA with easy good humor. This was recorded live on-air during my show, "Perceiver of Sound League" on WUAG-FM Greensboro. Gil is playing a little Casio keyboard and singing and I'm mixing various media.
Gary Heidt is a founding member of the Perceiver of Sound League, Mammals of Zod and Fist of Kindness. Born in Texas, he lived in NYC for a little under 30 years and now lives in Greensboro. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Heidt
