Isengrim by Gandavon

This album is a collection of misty, bedewed and bejewelled rock/metal/prog tracks, pulled from the ground and mounds of British/Anglo-Saxon heritage.

This Old High German word 'Isengrim' means something along the lines of "fierce iron" and is generally known as the name of a character in 'Reynard the Fox', but it can also refer to "iron mask". In that sense it makes me think of the Sutton Hoo helmet (Vendel/Anglo-Saxon culture) with the iron face-plate. The word could be understood by Anglo-Saxons and Old Norse/Vendel period people. It would have been quite evocative for them and makes me think of the period's warlike and dangerous times.

On this album I experiment with metal/rock and prog elements while mixing in a little medieval folk, jazz, funk and symphonic synthesizer ideas. Long-time friends and guitarists Erik Bentum and Robin Post joined me on this adventure.
