# About this track: Datatree Ark

Fossil whispers pulse through salvaged circuits in this cornerstone of our Neomara mythology. We built "Datatree Ark" around actual recordings of emptied museums—capturing the hollow spaces where extinct creatures once stood. The track's recursive synth motif emerged during a 3AM session when our analog system unexpectedly looped a corrupted sample, creating what sounded like digital DNA unwinding.

The tension between preservation and mutation runs beneath every measure. Those FM bass notes? We processed them through vintage equipment that was slowly failing, mirroring how the Archivists' perfect preservation begins to unravel. Each arpeggio represents another extinct pattern being cataloged, only to shimmer and transform under the pressure of memory.

We've always been fascinated by that fragile moment when remembered things start to take on lives of their own. The vocoder sections deliberately glitch mid-phrase—not as an effect, but because we ran the vocals through damaged equipment, letting authentic imperfection become part of the narrative.

Those who listen closely might catch the field recordings buried in the bridge: decaying tape of zoo animals from the 1960s, their calls distorted beyond recognition yet somehow still present as ghosts in the machine. When the percussion drops out during "We are more than what we salvage," we wanted that suspended moment of recognition—when preservation becomes transformation.

This track marks the tipping point in our album's story, where reverence for the past begins to crack under the weight of possibility. The magenta-tinted soundscape isn't just aesthetics; it's the color of remembrance bleeding into creation.
