fall apart under big umbrellas

i've read extraordinary things
of old mertonian poetry rings
i've loved you more than you could know
or see or ever write in prose
i've read a wealth worth dying for
i've lived a thousand lives before
i could be you and you could be me-
there's nothing broken anymore

i hope that you feel so alive
sometimes i catch my own thoughts dying
there are some people i won't see again
