canopy songs by fraser west
first conceived when i was 19 years' old, 'canopy songs' is the first full-length effort that i've felt confident in releasing. recorded between my student accommodation in liverpool and my childhood bedroom in crawley (south-east uk), this album has been stitched together like a patchwork, with each stage of development becoming more and more ambitious.
i set out with the idea of making a super stripped-back, acoustic EP of a few songs yet ended up creating a 40-minute, electro-acoustic/neofolk/what-have-you album, with some limited CDs too.
these are tales of self-deception, self-decay and self-discovery, soundtracked by soft and warm acoustics - 'i want to tell you' - and strange, dissonant experimentation - 'are you so blind?' - all threaded together with lyrics laced with natural imagery. allow yourself to be transported for a short while to a journey through my mind...
