Sky Juice by Morato 4

Sky Juice isn't just a work led and conceptualized by Francisco Morato. It's not just his first audio recording of a band he leads. It's a poetic and sonic manifesto. It's a poetic stance born out of his compositions and meditations. A dreamy world where previously conceived musical compositions have the right to be free, to be expressed by each of the incredible musicians that form the amazing band Francisco put together in the studio to create this incredibly fluid handful of tracks.

Sky Juice is a balm for the spirit, made of liquid drops from a higher place, inspiring the soul to listen within. Each track is a gateway into Francisco's creative universe, his clear sensitivity in his relationship with himself and the world.

And as each title suggests, the fundamental pieces that construct the author's own identity are things we all know in our lives: our pets, our loves and heartbreaks, our musical and artistic influences, our friendships, our sense of humor, our curiosity, and our hopes and desires. And this makes this album a remarkable piece for the history of "what makes us human". Pieces like this are an act of resistance and are urgent to listen to, to create, to share.

Sky Juice is my first album leading my own band and playing exclusively my own compositions. It cristalizes the result of three years living, playing and composing music in Gent, Belgium.
Having grown exponentially as a musician and as a person over the last few years, and after passing through a difficult personal moment I decided to put this band together and record an album that would symbolically bury the last three years; the end of a chapter of learning, personal growth and grief; and hopefully the start of something new and exciting, personalized in an exciting new working band.
Sonically the compositions walk on a thin line between a certain influence of european free improvisation, a strong ECM inspiration and some inate naivety in my composition. I find the end result quite captivating as I always tend to apreciate jazz the most when it morphs composition and improvisation in original ways. I think we got it.
I feel deeply honored to have the opportunity to have these wonderful musicians transform my compositions into something that I feel is truly outstanding. And I'm tremendously excited for what is still to come for this band.
