Ritmo Sinfonico by Raffaele Gervasio

Born in Bari in 1910, Raffaele Gervasio was an esteemed Italian composer who left a rich legacy of orchestral music and scores for cinema, television, and radio. During his brilliant career, he created soundtracks for numerous documentaries, as well as theatrical works and films, including the iconic "Carosello Napoletano" directed by Ettore Giannini in 1954.

Originally released on vinyl LP in 1980 by HARD, a small library music label, the collection "Ritmo Sinfonico" features pieces composed by Gervasio in the early 1960s to rediscover and celebrate the musical trends in vogue between the 1930s and 1950s, a time when jazz infused orchestral compositions, creating the unique and captivating genre of "Ritmosinfonico" (meaning “rhythmic-symphonic” or “rhytmosymphony”).

The album offers a variety of soundscapes that transport listeners to the world of cinema. Tracks like "Pianoforti Bianchi" weave together ethereal orchestral arrangements with delicate jazz elements, while "Trenta Girls 30" showcases Gervasio's eclecticism, blending classic Dixieland with carefree cinematic atmospheres. "Fascinosa" captivates with its elegant and graceful orchestral composition, while "Majorettes," an airy and dynamic piece by Maria Augusta Bruni, brings a touch of contagious cheerfulness.
