Co-creators Eric Kinlaw and Marcus Barfield return with another record that leaves us wondering, “How did they do that?” Their collaboration is a multidimensional celebration of curiosity and exploration, proof that one doesn’t have to settle for reliable templates that have become too obvious and shopworn. With forceghost, Kinlaw and Barfield have reinvented themselves as arbiters of electronic psychedelia. Cyborg-guitar and processed vocals hint at humanity, as notes spill like rivulets and hooks emerge from a digital haze. The songs charm as singles, but taken as a whole, they merge as an aural collage, a reminder that the man-machine has a heart.
