Lyrics
A lone trip to the river
light flashing orange passing trees
the stark light of the morning
One moment warm wind, the next a cool breeze.
There's something in today
in the eyes that drift away,
up the river length to mountain foot
beneath the great white arc in the sky
And so you say, that by my faith
the mountains will fall to the sea
So do I wait and do I pray
to see this great power portrayed..?
Though in the instant nothing changed
I began to recognise
the large stone in the riverbed
slowly decreasing in size
the braid winding back and forth
scouring stone to silt
the mountain pieces grinding down
tossing and colliding
And so you say, that by my faith
the mountains will fall to the sea
So do I wait and do I pray
to see this great power portrayed..?
So on it goes from stone to sand
the power of wind and water
the mountain cast, year upon year
daily incrementally
So the wind says, it's better to move
inch by inch and day by day
than to crave the hopeful grand event
and merely sit and wait...
And so you say, that by my faith
the mountains will fall to the sea
So do I wait and do I pray
to see this great power portrayed..?
It seems not enough, oh so cold
Am I copping out am I letting go?
Should I want the earth to move, and the cliff-face to break
I'd rather shout than just patiently wait
The black skies should crash
and the dark seas should thrash,
the torrent should tear it's way across to the sea
Instead you give this, a beautiful constant, a trickle of water eternally...
...falling.
And so you say, that by my faith
the mountains will fall to the sea
So I will wait, yes I will pray
to see this great power portrayed..
