Caedis by Fipohayo

The debut full-length project by my alias "Fipohayo".
This album focuses on themes of depravity, mortality, and desolation. It's a soundscape of depressive morbidity and despair. An exorcism of some of my darker thought patterns, nightmares, and overall darkness. This was inspired a lot by my time listening to ambient and drone music, as well as some noise-based artists.

I was inspired also by electronic horror music, like the sort you would hear in the intense sections of the score for the film "Hereditary" - and on the flip-side, the quiet sounds and shifting noises of a film like "Eraserhead" or some of David Firth's works on YouTube.

All in all, this project came from a dark place for me. I often tussle with morbid visions and dreams when I'm in a more depressed state. It can be pretty consuming and vivid, to the point where it just ruins me. This is not a romanticism of that feeling. I wanted to score the place my head was in into a form of music, as a way of getting it out of my system. I often took comfort in music that occupied a similar headspace or sound whenever I go through those times in my life, so ultimately: I hope I can provide some form of escapism or relatability for anyone else who may also experience similar feelings and fears.

"Caedis" is a gapless playback album, each song flows into the next seamlessly in order to create a flowing, dynamic whole. While the songs can certainly be separated and distinctly recognized from each other, they are meant to all be a part of the same story and space. Many of them are thematically connected and come from similar times and inspirations within my own life.

I hope you all find enjoyment or meaning in this project, this was a lot of time and effort in the making.
