Monster [Single] by Fingerless

‘Monster’, is taken from Fingerless’ recent work with Jeff Lovejoy (Screamfeeder, Sahara Beck, Blues Arcadia) for this as-yet untitled guitar and piano-driven 5th album.

This new single, a rich acoustic ballad with beautiful and uplifting harmonies that hide a dark and mysterious tale, joins 3 other previously released singles (‘More to Come’, ‘Cry a Little’, ‘Yes Today’) which hint at the kaleidoscopic ambition of this upcoming album.

Similar to their other recent ‘rock’ singles, ‘Monster’ was recorded live in the studio with tasteful overdubs added later. For the gearheads, that keyboard sound is the mighty Yamaha PSS470, and the vocals were recorded with a Neumann U 47.

The band’s songwriter Marc Cheeseman reflects on the song’s meaning; “It’s a pretty simple song, but a deeply personal one. We’ve been playing this live for a long time, but I resisted recording it. Basically it’s about self doubt. Maybe that’s why I didn’t want to record it…”
