Garbagramophone by Wave Debb

I took a gramophone player out for walks around my local area; picked up bits of rubbish, bottle tops, plastic lids, flowerpots etc. and "played" them out in the field. The sounds produced were recorded with 5 microphones, so I had 5 separate tracks to play with. Back in the warmth of the studio and in the spirit of Cumbia Rebajada, I played them back at the "wrong" speed and, channeling Thomas Brinkmann, staggered their playback rather than syncing them on cue. The results were groovy and very hypnotic.

These are some really hefty slabs with ferocious bass weight and the sound of the outdoors seeping in over the top; birdsong, traffic noise and even a distant cricket match. Howzee!
