If nothing’s going to hurt me
then why do I dream about beetles
infesting childhood rooms
with a parental hand’s close-up
lowering cork phellem chunks
to trap the bugs.
There’s nothing to recognize in it.
Nothing sells the other hand with one thing
only to wake it up like blind defense
with another toss up about your favorite
ways to reach from a center control
on why you think you see particle wakes
or afterimages, say histories of movement
like pointillism as a writhing swarm
because that’s the crawl people build
with fractions only splashed
by the hours that chime them.
