it wasn't for selfish reasons, they told themselves. they were thoroughly convinced they'd be useful for the future. after all, they had made their billions off of hard work, right? repeat something enough to yourself and you start to believe it.
either way, they'd noted that data preservation methods such as CD-ROMs, memory cards, USB drives, and other gadgets that'd long-gone extinct decades ago were an untapped market.
they figured if we could resurrect these lost pieces of technological history, they could use it to their own advantage.
but they were all fucking stupid. they'd built their billions on others' backs. they hadn't done jack shit themselves. so of course...they came to me.
and now their dead bodies lie in four chairs hooked up to a bogus machine they thought could save them.
i knew it was impossible. it's a fucking human brain they're trying to digitally preserve. how the fuck do you preserve the organic equivalent of billions upon billions of terabytes of information? how the fuck do you convert thoughts and ideas to computer data? what file-type would a fucking brainwave be?
alas, the less of them around the better. they were the ones that led us into this global catastrophe and now they were trying to jump ship before it dole them the consequences.
so i killed them. i lied to them. i told them i could make a machine that could preserve their consciousness.
and in that chair, with that goofy fucking "hat" on that they thought was going to upload their minds and existence to the 'cloud' or whatever, it instead delivered a 100-amp shock that killed them almost instantaneously.
blood poured out of their ears. one of the men's heads exploded. i won't say that upon witnessing the gore i didn't feel any regret--i'd took people's lives. but then again...thousands upon thousands have died from the weight of their metaphorical feet on their back. so i can't say i feel all too sorry about the ordeal.
as for jail? i don't really care all that much about that. the human race is doomed anyways. i just figured i'd play with the souls of some lame rich fucks before i inevitably succumbed to the parasites right outside my bunker.
