ERREADOS "Ad Astra" (2025) Subkliminal Kid & Prius Discos, Mexico City.

Ad Astra is an album that operates in the interregnum between the corporeal and the cosmic, a sonic journey that oscillates between the liquid weight of the body and stellar weightlessness. It is not simply post-rave music, but a cartography of that afterglow where danceable ecstasy mutates into contemplative trance, where the drop dissolves into an eternal buildup without resolution. The textures recall acid house slowed down until it becomes hypnagogic soundscaping, but also that kosmische tradition where the synthesizer is not a machine, but a telescope.
Here lies an ecosystem of sounds that rejects the dichotomy between the organic and the digital: double basses drag like black tides, distorted guitars emit cosmic background radiation, and harp arpeggios could be either nervous pulsations or signals from a pulsar. This is music that does not advance, but flows—a rhizome of loops and mantras that, instead of leading the listener to a climax, submerges them in a dilated eternal present.

If the original rave was a centrifugal energy—genres fracturing into sub-styles, beats accelerating towards the frenetic—Ad Astra is its centripetal counterpart: a spectral continuum where rhythm folds inwards, becoming a heartbeat, breath, tide. The references are there—90s isolationism, Jon Hassell's Fourth World, even deconstructed shoegaze—but the result is not pastiche, but a sonic drift where the micro (the whisper of a string) and the macro (the reverberation of a synthesizer like a big bang) become indistinguishable.

This is not a record to be listened to, but to be inhabited—an architecture of resonances where the body no longer dances, but floats. Water and stars are not metaphors, but physical conditions of the sound: pressure and vacuum, gravity and escape. If the rave was collective ecstasy, Ad Astra proposes a solipsistic ecstasy, an immersion into that gap between the self and the universe. There is no conclusion, only suspension: a chord that doesn't fade, a wave that doesn't break.
