born into a world
where many things can be true
a boy spoke his first word
in a language disposessed in view

scared of what their child might face
his guardians kept his face unknown
whilst trying their best to fight his fate
they left him cold and all alone

and from the pieces he was given
he built a house to call his own
though the world looked like prison
he was safe from the unknown
as he poisoned every flower,
any weed that dared to grow
his fear drove him to make his heart a foe

in his hands he held a gift
it made his mind feel free and warm
but his fear grew just as quickly
warmth turned into heat and soon a storm

and from the pieces he was given
he built a house to call his own

and then he said
when I let the fear inside my soul
and I let my feeling loose control
when the light goes out of sight
I will muster up my might
and break the walls of my domain
singing a soft refrain

in the echo of his walls
he was deaf to voices kind
but as he learned to listen
they opened up his mind
and the weeds he once despised
brewed a tea he dearly prized
despite the losses of his troubled past
the man had changed and found peace at last
