Real & Fake by Elle Archer

New year's day was always an important date to me and my music. It was the day that I birthed Shaylee, and the day I let her go, and the day I brought my real name into the recorded world with this album.

I've always felt all sorts of veils between me and other people. Call it masking, call it code-switching, call it hiding, it's all the same to me. Different doesn't even begin to cut it. I've felt like an alien half my life, and the other half i've been out as trans, opposite ends of a different coin than most.

When I made this record, I was struggling to accept myself and the things I was feeling at the time. So I abstracted the sounds, departed from the familiar, and dove into my weird, fractured state of mind through these coded messages disguised as songs.
