I stand out on the edge
And I survey the scene
And there are bricks and bottles tossed around
And out in the distance
I hear the sound of rockets
And they make a terrifying sound

I can hear the screaming
Of a million frightened children
As their world is blown all to hell
And I stand there weeping
At this frightful mis en scene
As the sound effects play a tolling bell

Where is the mercy
Where is compassion
Where is a thought for your fellow man
Is this what we want
All the pain and suffering
Is that part of the plan

What can I say
What is the need
When the world is falling apart at the seams
I just wanna hide
Inside my dumb head
In the broken landscape of my dreams
