We invite you to ingest Soma, the debut EP from San Francisco-based DJ/producer ELEXOS PARK, featuring four tracks of sybaritic techno.
Elexos Park might not be a name you recognize, but he's had house and techno heads from the Bay Area and beyond under a spell for close to a decade. Formerly known as GHOSTS ON TAPE, Elexos Park (aka Ryan Merry) was a founding member of the legendary San Francisco party and DJ collective ICEE HOT, and released a handful of 12"s on their eponymous record label featuring heavy, swirling drum tracks.
After a stint in Berlin, Merry is back in San Francisco, with a new name and a new direction. True to its name, Soma is body music, engineered to send dancers into a trance state. But Soma (and Elexos Park) is more soothing, more subtle, and more sensual than you might expect: dulcet tones and stepped drums will tickle the brain, but heavyweight acid flavors will gyrate the hips. "Soma" is a cosmic mind-warp. "Discipline" is the heaviest track on the EP, an ode to the Belgian sound of yore. "Tenshi" pushes its bassline into overdrive. Last but not least, "Moss" sounds like its namesake feels.
Dip into the healing waters. Let your body learn. Soma is good for you.
Botanical disco-dancehall, spiritual industrial hymns, iridescent swamp trance, cosmic bio-rhythms, all combined for a refreshing sonic mud bath. Co-founder/resident DJ/plastic floral arrangement at Vague Terrain club in San Francisco.
