Never Alone in a Dark Room is the artistic alias of Mario Castro, a Mexican DJ, producer, and label owner who has been active in the electronic music scene since 2014. Initially exploring various electronic styles, he delved into the minimal scene around 2017, developing a distinctive sound that merges deep-tech minimalism with avant-garde and experimental influences.

His music is characterized by intricate rhythms, dark atmospheres, and a minimalist aesthetic that resonates with fans of the genre. Castro has released tracks on several respected labels, including Yoyaku, Sendero, Fratii, Saraw, 123ro, Afterhours, Tamiras, and Darcoform. His work has garnered support from prominent minimal artists such as Mihigh, Vadim Oslov, Paul K, and Denis Andreev.

In addition to digital releases, Never Alone in a Dark Room has embraced analog formats, contributing vinyl tracks to European labels like Artist From Nowhere, 123RO, Helene Records, and Clock Records.

"Saatoshii EP" is a shadowy exploration of deep-tech minimalism by Never Alone in a Dark Room, offering two original tracks—"In Spectrum" and "Saatoshii"—that pulse with eerie elegance and restrained intensity. With crisp percussion, smoky textures, and brooding melodic layers, the EP captures the essence of inner disquiet and nocturnal introspection.

Adding further depth, Robert Ostan reimagines both tracks with his signature minimal touch. His remixes unravel hidden emotions, amplifying the tension and mystique through hypnotic loops and spatial manipulation—transforming the originals into spectral echoes of themselves.

The artwork, drawn from Francisco Goya’s “Witches' Flight”, underscores the EP’s themes: surreal, psychological, and otherworldly. Like Goya’s vision, the music feels suspended between dream and nightmare, caught in a weightless yet ominous space.
