I heard a story once, it was a lovely tale,
And it began once upon a time.
Dubunki was her name,
A gypsy, traveler, all the same,
She loved the earth and she knew the sky.

She wondered at the tune of a songbird.
Found beauty 'neath the rays of the sun.

A child an only one, really couldn't be much fun.
But she knew the world and it made her free.
The earth gave all it could,
Dubunki understood,
A traveler born she'd always be.
