Goliath & Goliath by Painter
This is a recording of a performance that took place on March 9, 2017 at Battery Books in Pasadena, CA. A live album of sorts. Two guys with guitars start playing a simple two-chord progression and then proceed to mess it all up.
What began as a silly musical idea ("What if we purposefully put each other out of tune and then improvise our way out of it?") became something more open-ended and chaotic: what if we just try to make things as difficult as possible for each other? While improvising?
Or: if two people actively try to sabotage each other creatively, is this collaboration? Is this what friendship looks like? Would anyone want to even watch that shit? I dunno man, but here it is.
also, an attempt to somehow incorporate slapstick into musical performance. or, failing on purpose.
