occupy
like over
growth, expansive as lungs
snug within a patterned ribcage;
occupy as in be
long somewhere,
as in home.

where i stay,
dust bunnies
birthing boundless babies
bloom below the bed & futon
suffer a whirlwind end.
they expand
& then shrink

much like stars,
or like us,
small, distant star-cousins
fighting for space on our mother’s
rocky, oceanic,
green body.
occupants

of planet
Earth, ponder:
what space is for us all
if not the site where which we arrived
by force & miracle ?
this space here,
land, sea, air,

surrounding
atmosphere—
our precious sphere aglare—
reflecting the sun’s solar flares;
where else to occupy
& query
histories?

reclaiming
what’s taken—
including our bodies—
this world & beauty, our follies
clouding nature’s holy;
what is ours
no one owns.

no one owns
what is ours.
even if we only
have shared moments & proxemics
here & now is public,
responsive,
connected.
