"30 Days" is a song that I wrote the lyrics for, and the keyboard arrangement for, after a difficult breakup with a girl. In order to get past the feelings of abandonment and sense of loss, I started doing a few things. One, I wrote about our experiences traveling through Europe, then produced this as an ebook "How to Travel Europe Cheap". Two, I started jogging. Three, I wrote a lot of songs on keyboard, mainly minor key type songs, melancholy with glimmers of hope and gratitude.

After the breakup, I talked to a friend, who specialized in counselling. I expressed to her that, everywhere I went in the area where I lived, South Florida, as I passed by specific locations, memories of me and her being there surfaced. The counsellor friend asked what I wanted to do. I told her I want to move to New York City. She said that, because of the situation, I had a fan on my back, a negative fan pushing me away from my current location, and a positive fan pulling me toward a destination. She suggested I move to New York City.

I did.

Everything changed.

The first night I arrived in NYC, I met a beautiful girl and we went dancing and kissed. Although we did not date, we kissed, and things looked hopeful. I got a job working as an extra (background actor) for film and television. This was, quite literally, the funnest job I've ever had. I met a lot of cool, interesting people. I wrote, with the help of a ghostwriter, my first novel, 'the rails'. I produced "Dumpster Diver the Musical". I wrote and produced "The Lost Orange", a short film.

It turns out that the breakup was a gift. It was the boost that I needed to move to NYC, to complete a project and launch it as a musical. It was the door to new opportunities, meeting creative people, dating beautiful girls, dancing, creating, and exploring the vast possibilities in a giant incubator, a pressure cooker for people's dreams--The City.

That was one of the lessons that I learned--that "unfortunate situations" are gifts that open doors to new possibilities.

Eventually, I returned to South Florida, to help out with a family situation.

Recently, I heard about Suno and I uploaded some of these lyrics, from songs from years ago, post-breakup, to Suno, and had it "create" songs. I was surprised and happy with the results.

Enjoy the song. And remember, if you are not happy, move. It's probably not you, it's probably the place and people you are surrounded by. Some people aren't meant to be understood, only appreciated. And if you're not growing where you are planted, plant yourself where you will go.
