With no sign of a human
We’re out of stock to lend
I gather my tools and
Carve in a monument

I had it all done but it’s stupid
Cut off my hair ‘cause it’s useless
Now I understand
Why you crawl under the line of sight
And watch the rendering

Miles of flat where ever you land
To straighten the legs the water bent

So I’m out for the morning
To round up rocks and sticks
And I swore that I’d warn you
If I saw clouds move in
The sky opens up and it melts us
We scramble around for a shelter
There’s always a line
And we dig it out year after year
Not remembering

That when we see the weave
Showing the sun in it

Now do we mend the holes that we can?
End over end
We pull ‘til we cramp

On a tarp that won’t cover us all
Too involved to recover the cost
All my fault that we sputtered and stalled
All replies too uncomfortable
