Phylogenetics by Downscope
In a dark room lit only by the pulsing LFO lights from effect pedals and a synthesizer I absorb the beauty of analog noise. Somewhere between hiss and crackle questionably melodic tones try to make their voice heard. Though the threshold is harsh and the noise may ultimately prevail, there’s something organic about the arpeggiated synthesizer tones. As if the struggle to break through and be recognized is a relatable attribute.
This album consisted of mostly dark and chaotic tracks (named as intervals) yet after setting up another recording session (see video link below) things went in a softer direction offering the creamier sounding tracks named as Phylogenetics, almost acting as warm bookends to this work.
