Peggy made me feel warm and she always seemed happy to see me when our paths did cross. The last few times I saw her we greeted each other with hugs, and the last time I saw her we had one on one hugs and a group hug -- she, her husband and I. And I shared with them the expression that had been dancing in me lately, "Hugging Terms." That it feels good to be on hugging terms with someone, genuine hugging terms. I told them that someday I'd write a song called Hugging Terms. I think the last thing Peggy said to me was "you definitely should."

So I send this song out with love and a hug for her. And to others, especially those with whom Peggy and I share a connection: a musician I admire her husband Gabe. Her ex-husband my friend and former fellow bandmate Rich. And my dear friends Dana and Ski.

When someone dies it's natural to think of yourself and your own feelings. The Death of a dear loved one leaves us feeling sad, empty and sometimes inconsolable. I feel it's important to feel the community around us, to know and to remember that there are people who love and admire each of us as much as we admire and love them. And that the simple act of showing up, even if it's just for a day to pay respects, means so much. No one is an island, entire unto themselves.
