Magpies by Don Ross
This was originally the closing theme for a CBC Radio Drama presentation in 2001! I was archiving a huge pile of stuff off various external hard drives that had been piling up on my studio shelves, and stumbled upon this session. I recorded this on my very first Pro Tools rig, onto a Mac G4 tower through a DigiDesign Digi001 interface. Good times. I think I only had one decent microphone at the time for recording, so everything was done one track at a time. Twenty-two years later I finally listened to it again and was shocked at how good it sounded, and how catchy a ditty it is! Here it is, dusted off and nicely mixed at the start of 2023! You can hear it in Dolby Atmos too as of January 5 2023 on Tidal, Apple Music and Amazon Music!
