Blindfold by Maru

Tokyo-based electronic artist Maru has signed with Dome of Doom for the release of the new digital-only EP, Blindfold. Dropping worldwide May 14th, Blindfold was constructed with the Mutable Instruments modular synth Plaits and the 4ms Pods rack. Gifted to Maru by beat synthesis veteran Bleep Bloop during a trip to his studio in Los Angeles, the music is otherworldly and complex. Created with a sense of avant-garde mystique and major sound system voltage, the juxtaposition is spellbinding and takes the listener on a ride that’s entrancing with both headphones and big speakers. A large bearing of influence to Blindfold is the Japanese underground bass music scene. Events such as Back To Chill, Low End Theory Japan, and Outlook Festival were important incubation grounds for Maru to find the type of sound he was looking for and what he’s ultimately achieved with Blindfold.
