The Tonerings project emerges at the intersection where jewelry art and sound practices assemble. Metal here is not inert—it's texture, density, and warmth shape their own distinct sound signature. Each silver part resonates, emits sound, and interacts with its surroundings like a living node within a network. The sound field flows from it and adheres to it, becoming part of its very essence.
My approach resonates with Jane Bennett’s concept of "thing power." In Tonerings, silver becomes an active participant in creating a holistic phenomenon that transcends traditional notions of material and form. Its potential unfolds through duality—the ring exists simultaneously as a physical object and as a sonic passage, a hybrid entity that can be perceived as an object within an extended field of relations. The musical equivalent of the ring expands its materiality, activating hidden properties.
I deepen my long-term collaboration with this assertive materiality, and for me, the Tonerings project opens up opportunities to explore such interactions, acting as an actor connecting participants within a horizontal network—things, sounds, my perception, and accessible technologies.
