MOCKRACY (2008) by Tom Djll's Weapons of Mass Dysfunction
First staged in March 2003, Mockracy 2008 uses music and theater to make a mockery of that political spectacle known as democracy, American style.
Mockracy splits the contemporary orchestra into Republicans and Democrats, House and Senate, with the President and Mrs. President on hand, and an Our Town-on-acid narrator. The media-industrial complex is deployed in live video and nostalgic clips from past campaigns. Deploying the Bay Area’s best new-music and improvising musicians, this Mocktober Surprise serves up a surge of boots on the stage.
