Storyline by District Five

There is no more powerful way to begin a statement: “Storyline”, the first single release by the band District Five, is a monumental power piece and opener to their new album “Burnt Sugar”. Driving drum-beats plus the probably best recorded Fender-mustang-bass ever, lay the foundation for a journey that begins dangerously only to halt in the frenzy of odd meters: Guitar- as well as synth-soundscapes, spacey vocals, inhale and reflect. But not for long – one must go on, but where to?
This can only be revealed by the individual storyline of each and every life to be lived.

District Five break through generational boundaries. Math-rock, post punk, jazz, electronica, film music: those are corner stones of a new sound through which the four visionaries from Zurich are permanently leaving gridlocked genres behind and begin to build their own avantgarde.
This music isn’t called jazz anymore, yet that doesn’t mean it’s pop either. No, in fact it is rather a process of finding new liberties and at the same time it sets an example for diversity as well as long-lasting friendship.

District Five has been meeting in the rehearsal room for over ten years, reflecting themselves, their friendship, their influences and experiences in their music. The result is a work that keeps on moving. Sometimes closer to jazz, sometimes pop, sometimes further away from it, but always close to itself. Hyper-energetic freefall music injected directly into your brain through your ear canals.
