Basic shapes is the first track that Psylla ever finished in Ableton Live, but revisited a year after the fact to re-finish. He's always enjoyed good voice leading so the starting concept of the track was to write a string quartet arrangement of a chord progression that he came up with but not for two violins, a viola and a cello, but the basic oscillator shapes of a synthesizer - a sine wave, a triangle wave, a sawtooth wave and a square wave. That was the starting point for the track. Then distortion was added.
