This album consists of music that was recorded during three different sessions. The first session took place on February 16th 2024. This was the first time Issa Ndour (SN), Chiara Bacci (IT), Nicola Lancerotti (IT) and Dirk Wachtelaer (BE) played together as a quartet.The music was completely improvised. Unfortunately there were some technical problems during the recording and only these three tracks (6,7 and 8) could be used.
I liked those tracks a lot and started thinking about how to release them. Three tracks were not enough for a full album and to bring the quartet together for a new session was impossible.
So I put together a new quartet which had the use of flute, voice and drums in common but also had some new elements. We first recorded the flute (Frédérick Becker) separately (December 12th 2024). These recordings were used as a basis for the third session (December 28th 2024) where Florence Cats, Jean Jaques Duerinckx and I improvised on Frédéricks tracks.
The result is a split album consisting of two different quartets but unified by the same musical vibes, my drums and the presence of Nicola Lancerotti both as a musician and a recording engineer.
