Getting some weight off my back.
Bunch of stuff I've put out on random comp. tapes on either FFU (Filthy Fingers United) or other labels / crews. Some were made for emcees who just didn't bite, some are on old collab projects but I love the instrumental.
4 years worth of beats.

All tracks are named by their Ableton file names, except the interludes.

"Cache Dump is a 37-track bonanza of (mostly) boom-bap instrumentals that venture into the more lysergic end of the sampladelic-hiphop spectrum. The music here will get your head nodding, for sure, but it will also kick it into a much weirder space than most hiphop. In this way, Cache Dump follows in the style of Diogenes's Death & Acid album, transmuting his ravenous ear for unusual samples into pieces that make you feel as if someone laced your blunt with ketamine.
Some examples of Diogenes's sonic disorientation include "Car Music" (more oneiric than Boards of Canada at their druggiest), "dusty latin psych" (martial funk with a slurred female [or falsetto] vocal sample), "I Am Not a Pixels" (a wickedly woozy, disjointed, and lackadaisical funk bomb that would make Kid Koala smile hard), and "ta.r.p." (phenomenally warped church bells [I think] over scattershot beats)."

"Diogenes dropped this record in an unassuming way, declaring it simply "4 years worth of random beat and stuff, named by their Ableton file names." It's a modesty reminiscent of when Kendrick cast off "untitled unmastered" as some crap taking up space in his junk drawer. "Cache Dump" is an impressive 37 tracks, humility aside, summing to a lengthy hour an half of new music. In a recent review by The Stranger, it was described as "a treasure trove of wonderfully warped instrumentals." Diogenes is amongst the forefront of Seattle's beat makers with an impressive back catalogue of transportive, manipulated melodies. Here, extensive crate digging has led to unexpected samples that are then chopped, detuned, reshaped and reassembled. Each track tells a story, each one a mini-movie soundtrack, ranging from familiar to exotic, sometimes warm, sometimes unsettling, sometimes foggy. There's a lot here to digest over multiple listening sessions, but let me tell you a few personal highlights: The singalong vibe of the ironically-named "shut up," the easy-flowing "loopin feilds," and the religious catharsis found in "earthly days." Calling all vocalists: apparently, many of these beats were intended to be paired with words.
