JONATHAN'S HOME!!!!

I have always been intrigued by demos, most of my favourite musicians I find admiration for through this in particular. This idea of a piece of art being consumable before its intended “product” is so cool to me, its rare and can be pretty specific to music in particular (can you think of any great unfinished paintings?(me again.... yes i can think of a few oops but still!), stopping the songwriting process at a point can prevent the larger then life expectations of music production, and besides all the pretentiousity its just really fun. This is an accurate overview.

This LP was recorded entirely to 4 track cassette, the Tascam Portastudio 424 MKII to be exact. From memory most songs were recorded in single sessions spanning a few hours usually. While I was definitely recording "something" I more just spent the last few months rather lonely and isolated in my room. This is great for creativity, however listening to these 9 songs again and again drew me into them before I was even able to in a sense to some “finish them”! (lol) so here it is!

The finished product is Jonathan’s Home, an album half sung half imagined that refuses to spare detail (except when chosen to because free will) about my emotions. Try that for some authenticity ! ;)

Also did you know artists are supposed to write "EPK's" (Electronic Press Kit) for the music industros? Fuck that ! but i wrote one anyways here is an except -

"Recorded over a few month’s span, this LP is a mix of songs across the spectrum, these aren’t demos, they simply reached the level they were destined to meet, reflecting the headspace that created them “lets see where this goes”. What resulted, 27 minutes of noise ranging from post-punk obsessed drum loops to fuzzed out freak-folk obsessed over a minimalistic approach that screams out of the bedroom window it was manufactured in." (so funny) ((i never sent it round lol, apart from friends))
