Space Bubbles by feat. Liz Kosack & Cansu Tanrikulu

Space Bubbles
Devin Gray - drums/percussion
Liz Kosack - keys/electronics
Cansu Tanrikulu - voice/electronics
When I first wrote this text, I didn't realize there would be everyday talk about potential WW3 on our hands. As my music is mostly instrumental, it inherently always carries a political message which is always implied, and right now in the state of our world, it’s needed. So I dedicate the piece's titles for the whole world to read in hopes that the music will help, and I am immensely grateful to Liz & Cansu for the level of talent that we both brought in our music making here.
1) Missed Vone Call
Sometimes the phone rings, sometimes the Vone rings. For sure there are no Missed Vone Calls in this trio as they blast forward with full power, respect and attention to the most subtle personal vibrations.
2) Space Bubbles
The intensity nails the state of the world’s apocalyptic events. The glitchy electronics mixed with bursting punk like drums and squeeze electronic voices push their listeners to the limits of understanding that anti-war, anti-greenwashing are both important to the future of global democracy.
3) Skalitzer Lullaby
This "cute" little late night lullaby can leave your ears and imagination missing the sweet sounds of metal on metal. Hear the creepy, eerie-melodic colors layered with voices, drums, and synths. An apocalyptic lullaby for the times.
4) 1999 Internet
There's something about tuning notes and internet speeds that catches the ear on this one. Be patient as the piece grows organically. The track has an almost prayer-like quality to it, perhaps in the zones of some Angus Dei styles, while helping send all of us off into the new year with more positivity.
5) Cancel Culture
Ostracism isn’t a new concept, but by now everyone knows the CC phrase and concept. Whether we’re talking about CC in the political discourse, corporate king pins, or with public celebrities, online shaming via withdrawing support on social media platforms is V real.
6) Curate the Curators
All of us who create in a sense are also curators. We all know music wins at the end of the day, and this is a very important distinction to make in our modern world of over mass saturation.
7) What We Learn from Nature
I wanted to direct the trio through a slow organic nurturing vibe that allowed each of us enough space to express ourselves while keeping an underlying structure to bounce ideas around. The ultra subdued compositional melodic material shines clearly with this trio collaboration. I am particularly in love with the keyboards' Alice Coltrane expression-like qualities at 1:22. Respect Nature.
8) Lullaby Bonus
Subtle sonic Landscapes not to be taken lightly. Bask in the unknown for a change, feel the metal on metal from the U12 above your head. See the lights, smell the smell.
9) Election Blues
Election seasons around the world always bring their unique set of roller coaster emotions. This trio creates spaces through soft growing musically calming sensations of experimental electronic glitches, all before a peak of intensity of soothing your ears after. They democratically build music which includes abstract feelings of election day results. They make their sounds in anticipation of helping refocus your deepest election day fears and outcomes because “we’ve got the election day blues.”
10) Hyper Surveilled
Hyper surveillance is the intricate surveillance of an entire or a substantial fraction of a population in order to monitor that group of citizens that specifically utilizes technology. As the reliance on the internet economy grows, smarter technology with higher surveillance concerns and snooping means workers have increased surveillance at their workplace. Hyper surveillance is highly targeted and intricate observation and monitoring among an individual, group of people, or faction.
