About Dianthys
Dianthys is the solo project of Guy Kelly, a musician and designer currently located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, the local punk rock scene of the 1990’s shaped Guy’s worldview and fostered a desire to create music that challenged himself and the listener. While his early focus was on playing bass in as many bands as possible, the solo records of Louisville legend Dave Pajo inspired Guy to compose, perform and produce music in isolation. The music of Dianthys fluctuates from heavy indie rock to outsider electronica, dictated only by the whims of inspiration, and the urge to evoke emotion through unexpected sounds.
About Grit
Grit was composed and recorded from 2017-2018 in Dianthys’ home studio. In an attempt to break free from traditional rock instrumentation, the six tracks rely heavily on synths and electronic percussion, mixing in organic sounds with acoustic instruments. The influence of modern trap music is as prevalent as early 2000’s post rock bands to create a wholly unique sonic experience.
