Breakup Song by Deerhoof
Deerhoof's first album in which the band members were not living in the same city any longer. Almost everything was made by recording separately at home and then passing the results around so that everyone could add their layer. The final edit and mix of all the pieces of the puzzle were done in Greg's bedroom in one marathon three-day session with everyone present.
After a particularly long mixing day, Satomi walked home at about 4am and saw a particularly spectacular garbage truck. This became the cover. The album pays tribute to karaoke, dancing, sound systems, and puts a positive spin on the genre of the breakup song.
