Ghost Highway from Forebodings by David Brown

The highway has had no vehicle traffic for many decades. The forest grows over the sky and the substantial cracks in the pavement sprout bushes and trees. To the left, a collapsed broadcast tower blocks all four lanes. Despite the triumph of the elements, the echoes of the once busy artery are distinctly audible, as if escaping from an earlier age through an invisible portal.

David Brown received his MFA in Music from the Center for Contemporary Music at Mills College in Oakland, California where he studied composition with Anthony Braxton & Kenneth Gaburo and music & information theory with David Rosenboom. His compositions & sound designs combine found sounds with acoustic and electronic instruments to create sound collages of orchestral density.
