Eddie climb aboard
Let’s go on the ocean
Sail to Pape’ete by the light of the moon
Honoring the path of the ancients
Pulling up Tahiti right out of the sea

With nothing to show the way
But the stars, wind and waves

The crowd on Magic Island cheered and shouted
The crew turned back enjoying the view
But outside in the channel, the storm was raging
It rolled and flipped them over, nearly broke them in two

And on through the night
They kept themselves alive

Then in the morning light
He pulled his board astride
Saying “I’ve gotta try”

Eddie stroked away into the future
Riding on the swells of eternal grace
Onward how he paddles into forever
Pulling Hawaiki right out of the sea

The best he could do in the end
Was to give some hope to his friends

So he pulled his board astride
