Shalom Aleichem from Sasson v'Simcha by David Sasso
This poem, written by Jewish mystics of the late 16th or early 17th centuries, has been set to many melodies and is sung as a song to welcome Shabbat upon returning home from the synagogue. This setting includes a "niggun," or a song without words, a common approach in Jewish music of extending the song beyond the limit of what the words can express.
