David Pate was born in 1954 and raised in Clearwater Florida, during the 1960's.Influenced by that period's icons:Hendrix, Coltrane, Sam Rivers, Zappa, Evan Parker, Ian Anderson and Terry Riley, Pate's solo improvised performances are a strange eclectic mix.He utilizes extended sax techniques: multiphonics, circular breathing, controlled overtones, ostinatos, and maybe a couple of blues licks.
